Our German school in Vienna is conveniently located in the city centre, in the district of the embassy, in front of Schloss Belvedere, 15 minutes by bus from the city centre. 

The school is on the first floor of a completely reformed historical building. The minimum age to study German in the school is 16 years old. However, the majority of the students are between 18 and 35 years old. The school has an animated and multicultural environment. During your German course in Vienna, you will meet new friends from around the world. Also, the German teachers are specialised in new methodologies and use the latest materials.

  • The climate in Austria is generally good, and reaches temperatures of 20ºC or 30ºC in the summer, and 0º in winter. 
  • Vienna is the city of romance. It is a dream for romantics, or for lovers of history. There are thousands of tourist places to visit. You can walk through medieval alleyways or through imperial plazas; visiting the Schönbrunn Palace or the Imperial palace (Hofburg), following in the steps of Empress Sissi and admire the dazzling architectural pieces in the boulevard Ring.

Public Transport 

The public transport system in Vienna is excellent. The metro, the tram and the buses are safe and clean. The metro system is very easy to use and at night, there is a network of night buses - a cheaper alternative to taxis. 

Also, a recommendable option is to use a bike. Since 2002, the city offers public bicycles (Stadtrad) in different parts of the city. You can get them for free by leaving a small deposit, and use them to get around the city. There are many beautiful cycle routes in the city, like the route next to the Danube. 

What to see in Vienna

  • La Ringstrasse is the most important avenue in the city, and is constructed in the same place as the ancient wall. Here you can find the most famous buildings in Vienna. 
  • Vienna opera. There is nothing more well known in the world than the Vienna opera. Get to know about the opera theatre and how to visit the majestic interior. 
  • The Austrian Parliament was constructed in the nineteeth century in a classic style, and it is the most notable building in the Ringstrasse. 
  • Schönbrunn Palace. Constructed in the 17th century, the Schönbrunn palace served for many years as the summer residence for the imperial family in Vienna. Both the inside and the gardens are worth a visit. 
  • Hofburg Palace. Hofburg Palace has been the residence of the Habsburgo for more than 600 years. It is the most visited place in Vienna and is an essential place to visit. 
  • The Belvedere Palace was constructed as the summer residence for Prince Eugenio of Saboya. Nowadays, it is an art museum and there is nothing left of the palace interior. 
  • El Prater is a popular recreation space where there is the oldest theme park in the world. The big wheel, 60m high, is one of the symbols of Vienna. 
  • Hundertwasserhaus is a residential block created by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, an Austrian artist that many people call Gaudi. 
  • Stadtpark. Open to the public since 1862, the park in the city (Stadtpark) is the preferred park for many Viennese people as many tourists visit the capital. 
  • The Imperial Crypt (Kaisergruft) is the place in which the rest of the Austrian royalty relax. In it, there are more than 150 graves, the most visited being of Emperor Franz Joseph. 
  • The Spanish school of horse riding, created in 1572, forms part of Hofburg and consists of one of the most renowned institutions in Vienna. Their horses are known worldwide. 
  • Austrian National Library. Constructed in the 18th century under the order of Emperor Charles IV, the Austrian National Library is one of the most beautiful historical libraries in the world. 
  • Mozart´s house. Between the years 1784 and 1787, Mozart, the most renowned composer of all times, lived here with his family in this apartment on Domgasse street. 
  • The tower of Danube (officially, Donauturm) is a tower 250m high, and from it you can see the majorty of Vienna. It has a revolving restaurant. 
  • Naschmarkt. Flowers, meat, bread and all type of food come togehter in Naschmarkt, the most well known market in Vienna, a market that has been held since the 16th century.

What to do in Vienna

The school organises a varied number of activites that include:

  • Walks around the city, explaining and looking over the most important points of the architecture, history, way of life, culture, music and leisure in Vienna. 
  • Sports activities: winter sports such as ice skating, skiing, badminton.. or outside sports in the summer such as football, volleyball, cycling, waterskiing, among many others.

If you want to live in a German speaking environment, and get to know the Austrian customs, we recommend that you stay with a host family. Our families have been carefully selected, and could be married couples or not, with or without children or single people of all ages. All of the families live in residential neighbourhoods, well connected with the school through public transport. We offer single or double bedrooms. The journey from the family to the school is 15-25 minutes (maximum 40 minutes). You can choose between half board or just breakfast.

Residence in Vienna

The residence at the school is in a recently renovated building, very close to the city centre. The school is 10-15 minutes by public transport. The residence is made up of shared apartments between students. 

We offer two categories of apartments: Standard and superior. 

The closest metro stop to the residence is "Zippererstraße" and it is a 5 minute walk away. From here, the journey to the city centre is approximately 10 minutes. If you want, you can reserve half board or just breakfast. The meals will be served in a restaurant near to the school. 

  • Standard: Offers single or double rooms in shared apartments with 2-5 students. The apartments are 60-75 m2 and are completely equipped with TV, radio, Internet connection, kitchen and bathroom. 
  • Superior: private studios for one or two people, with private bathroom and kitchen. The studios are 30-40 m2 and art completely equipped.

We offer single or double rooms with a shared bathroom. The bedrooms are fully equipped and each has a minifridge. There is a shared kitchen with the other students. Take into account that the kitchens are not equipped and each student should bring their utensils. Among the families, there is a laundry and a student room with TV. Breakfast or half board.

How to get there

How to get to Vienna

The International Airport of Vienna, known commonly as the airport of Schwechat, is one of the most important in Europe. It is situated approximately 18km SouthEast of the city. 

How to get from the airport to the city centre

Trains, minibuses and taxis connect the airport with the urban area:

  • The "City Airport Train" (CAT) goes, without stops, from the centre of Vienna to the airport in 16 minutes. 
  • The S-BAHN Metro. The journey from and to Wien-Mitte station takes 24 minutes. 
  • The bus: Various bus lines connect the airport with different train stations for "transfers" that go to the city.
  • The minibus and taxi stops are in the arrivals area of the airport.
